Printmaking: Relief Week 1

Recap:
Monday we read through the syllabus and drew a dragon. We also reviewed some tools and the studio set up. Wednesday we discussed the dragon drawing, more in depth tool usage, and the relief printing process. I made a practice print from a linoleum plate (left) and discussed best studio practices for making a print. Students where then given the remainder of the class time to make a practice print and begin the design process for their own lino print based on the "Flora or Fauna" theme. At the close of class we discussed the basics of printing: Boarder, Ink Quality and Signature. All three will play a large part in the grading rubric for this project.
