IL 106 Seq Art Figure Ill Week 7

On Tuesday student worked to complete the 3 full page thumbnail layouts for the graphic Shakespeare narrative project. Thursday students were tasked with completing a mixed media test to gain practice for completing the final. 

IL 106 Seq Art Figure Ill Week 6

Tuesday students began work on the Shakespeare Narrative project as grading began for the first project. Thursday students were asked to select and have their research completed for the project. Students were able to see the finished thumbnails for Titus andronicus. Demonstration for mixing pen and acrylic ink was begun for stage 3 mixed media tests. 

IL 106 Seq Art Fig Ill Week 2

On Tuesday students transitioned from stage 1 thumbnails to stage 2 roughs. Students enlarged the thumbnails and added detail to the best ones. Thursday students saw the demonstration roughs and an introduction to photographing a model for stage 3.

FA 210 Digital Painting Week 9

This week students were asked to form groups and write a creative brief to set a stage for making character silhouettes. This firsts stage should create 20 silhouette thumbnails which will then be evaluated by the group to choose 5 for development into a rough. The toughs will then be evaluated by the group again to help select a final. This process will hopefully lead to the strongest solutions. After all finals are finished the group will then present their concept and finals together.

FA 105 2D Design Week 3

On Monday student completed the 40 thumbnails and critiqued in groups to select the best designs for the 20 rough stage. Wednesday we had a snow cancellation due to the delayed open on campus, so students should have all 20 roughshod finished for 1 on 1 critique on Monday the 10th.

This week students worked with tracing characters and forms to highlight interrelationships of form and composition. These 40 thumbnails will go through the creative process to become 20 roughs and finally 10 final compositions.

FA 202 Intrmt Drawing Week 3

Week 3 recap - on Monday we began a Thumbnail to Final Refinement exercise. First we watched a pencil drawing demonstration by Feng Zhu. Then students made a series of 20+ thumbnails of their chosen Object/Theme. Then choosing 3-6 of these thumbnails student refined the image after it was photocopied to a larger size. From this second group students chose 1 or 2 to be again copied  and enlarged. Student were then asked to refine the drawing once more making a finished piece for the series. Thursday students continued to finish this process as a demonstration from the "cloud" theme was made.

FA 105 2D Design Week 3

Week 3 Recap- this week students created their 40 thumbnails using the chosen character and shape. On Wednesday we started the 20 rough compositions drawing from the two best designed thumbs in each category. On Monday we will select the best roughs to make into our final designs.

FA 105 2D Design Week 1-2

Week 1-2 Recap - After reviewing the syllabus and required materials students began working with tracing characters and shapes.  Based on a review of the Creative Process students then chose one specific character and shape to explore the principles of composition design.  Students are asked to start this process with 40 thumbnails which will then translate into 20 rough sketches and finally 10 finals.  Students will have a thumbnail review on Monday.
