FA 104 Figure Drawing 2 Week 3

This week we focused on foreshortened poses and making a figure sit flatly in the picture. Tuesday we continued with more warm ups and practice poses, while Thursday students made a shaded drawing of a foreshortened figure to submit for grading.

Students spent Tuesday focusing on gesture and warming up to drawing the figure after the summer off. Thursday students had a refresher boot camp in proportion. On Tuesday the 8th of September we will meet at the Juergensen gallery in IT before returning to the figure room to finish proportion.

This assignment students were asked to make spoon gestures (10), reflection self portrait, and 3 imagined textures on spoons.

FA 103 Figure Drawing 1 week 3

On Tuesday students participated in the Pascucci workshop and a news interview with our model Steve Mazza. On Thursday students walked through fitting a figure to a certain size while including the balance (plumb) line and the mid line. Then students practiced the block in of the three major masses and adding the axis lines of those masses. Homework 1 was due and homework 2 - 15 thumbs of the major masses from life will be due next Thursday.

Tues students reviewed the course materials and course syllabus. Thurs students began focusing on both gesture and proportions of the figure. The height sizes for a 2" figure are: 0" 2" 4" 6" 7 1/2" 9" 11" 13" and 15" students should rule up their paper before class on tues

Week 13 recap- this week students made a second portrait drawing on Tuesday while working on gestures in the sketchbook on Thursday. Final drawings begin tues nov 26.
