After covering the syllabus and materials on day 1 students focused on Proportion Structure and Tone on Tuesday. Thursday then introduced concepts in foreshortening and practicing those poses.

FA 101 General Drawing Week 10
Tuesday students made a line quality drawing with no shading next to a tonal drawing with little to no line. Both drawings were of the same object and focused on making the best drawing possible. Thursday students made a spooky charcoal still life drawing. REMINDER--- the Richard Russo lecture will be Tuesday and we will meet at class AB 112 @ 630pm for the assignment before going to the lecture at 7. This is a big assignment and is Mandatory, plus a DGV do bring your student ID.

FA 103 Figure Drawing 1 Week 4
Tuesday students were introduced to hatchure style tonal shading. Simple form shading was introduced then applied to the figure. On Thursday students again applied the same style of shading after a dowel distance drawing exercise. Next week students should bring charcoal and related tools for class.

FA 103 Figure Drawing 1
Tues students reviewed the course materials and course syllabus. Thurs students began focusing on both gesture and proportions of the figure. The height sizes for a 2" figure are: 0" 2" 4" 6" 7 1/2" 9" 11" 13" and 15" students should rule up their paper before class on tues

Fall Semester 2013
Week 1 Recap -
Wednesday - FA 202 Intermediate Drawing we reviewed the course syllabus and discussed both the required materials and the schedule for course projects. Students can expect to begin work on the Object Analysis project after a brief discussion of the project handout. Students should plan to bring their sketchbook to class as the Sketchbook project will also be introduced on Wed Sept 4. DO NOT forget to bring your Object/Theme for our first project. Finally remember to bring the course textbook Sketchbook for the Artist by Sarah Simblet
Thursday - FA 106 Color Theory students reviewed the course syllabus and discussed required materials and course schedules/policies. Students should come to class on Tues with: paints, brushes, palette, bristol paper to begin work on a color space exploration exercise.
FA 209 Painting 1 students should bring the following to class on Tues Sept 3: Titanium White 150ml, Ivory Black 37ml, brushes, palette, canvas panel 11"x14" and mediums (turps and neomeg or galykd). Students should also bring both textbooks to class The Complete Oil Painter by Brian Gorst and Oils in 10 Steps by Ian Sidaway.
FA 104 Figure Drawing 2 Students should come to class with sketchbook, drawing paper pad, and a drawing implement. Textbook is Figure Drawing: Design and Invention by Michael Hampton.

GD 101 Foundation Draw Week 10
Week 10 Recap - Monday students finished work on the value key drawing project. Wednesday students began working with charcoal making a drawing that highlights the difference between line quality and tone.

GD 101 Foundation Draw Week 7
Week 7 recap- this week we finished the perspective projection boxes on Monday and focused on cross contour line drawings for Wednesday . Next week we will start a series of graphite tonal still lifes. Finally we introduced the 6 parts of light concept for a complete view of tonal shading. Homework had a. 3 objects fit into boxes b. fifteen circle/oval abstract compositions c. Draw "chaos"
