Our first day of class we reviewed the course syllabus. Tuesday we began with a grisaille painting demonstration then students began their own paintings focusing on drawing with oil paint and blocking in the values. Thursday students began with an oil out process before starting the painting session and focusing on edges and brush control.

FA 218 Painting 2 Week 11
On Tuesday demonstration for using the image transfer in a portrait was made using Ingres Grisaille style. Thursday portrait sketches were drawn up and shellacked. Furious portrait painting sessions to begin next week.

FA 210 Digital Painting Week 2
Tuesday students worked on both the Grisaille project and Brush Control Doodads. Thursday students again worked on the Grisaille and were introduced to the brush panel and the variety of properties that can change a brushes look and application.

FA 218 Painting 2 Week 2
On Tuesday students and demonstration continued the grisaille painting. On Thursday demonstration began for wipe out painting using burnt umber oil paint only.

FA 210 Digital Painting Week 1
On Tuesday student reviewed the syllabus and began painting by making digital mixes. Thursday after the geodesic dome brush control exercise students were introduced to the Grisaille observation project. Next week we explore brushes and continue work on the Grisaille painting.

FA 218 Painting 2 Week 1
Tuesday students from both painting 1&2 groups were introduced to the syllabus and supply lists. Thursday after a short Grisaille demonstration student began painting either the still lifes or their own "Marriage" of objects.

FA 209 Painting 1 Weeks1&2
This week students began work on the Grisaille still life while reviewing chapter 1 from the Complete Oil Painter book by Gorst. Tuesday students will have some time to finish before attending the Coincidental Correspondance lecture and opening in the Juergensen Gallery.

This week students finished work on both the brush control exercises and the Grisaille painting. Thursday the transparent imprimatura wipe out was introduced. Next week brush textures, masking and warping.

FA 209 Painting 1
Tuesday students continued working on finishing the Grisaille painting before attending the Richard Deon workshop/lecture. Thursday students began the burnt umber wipeout painting exercise. Next week students will begin the wet in wet painting technique. Homework #1 will also be due.

FA 218 Painting 2 Week 5
On Tuesday student began work on the warm cool still life exercise. Demonstrations for both the first (warm) still life and the w/c Portrait were made. Thursday the warm cool portrait was completed and the Caravaggio style piece was taken to stage 2 grisaille. Student will have critique #1 on Thursday March 6th.
