IL 106 Seq Art 1 Figure Ill Week 12

Tuesday students continued work on their hero/villain portrait project. Demonstration continued with the Jedi selfie piece. Thursday students participated in group critique of their progress. The next project A Blue Collar Job was introduced

FA 218 Painting 2 Week 6

This week portrait demonstration continued for the Caravaggio piece as student worked on starting their portrait exchange. Painting 1 group worked on the warm cool project.

FA 106 Color Theory Week 1

Tuesday = syllabus, Thursday students began exploring color space working with warm and cool temperatures of all the hues (color families) then exploring value with tints and shades. Finally moving across the color wheel with harmonies and compliments to see intensity changes. Next week color triads

FA 209 Painting 1 Week 6

This week students continued working on the warm cool project - shifting from the first painting to the second of the pair.

FA 209 Painting 1 Week 5

Students began work on the first side of the warm cool palette project. Using only black red oxide and white students will create two still lifes on one panel. One will have more black paint and be cooler, while the other will have more overall red oxide and be warmer. Next week students will continue to the second side of the piece.

FA 106 Color Theory Week 2 - b

Monday and Tuesday students made color space exploration scales. Harmony, compliments, tints and shades all followed after warm and cool studies of the hue families. Wednesday and Thursday students began designing and painting the color triad, quad, pent or hex. We will work one more class period on the triads before switching to color matching.

FA 218 Painting 2 Week 5

This week students should be finishing the third of the union paintings and beginning the portrait. The Shawn Barber portrait Faces of MV project was introduced as demo for the warm/cool portrait palette was given.

This week students finished working in the Warm/Cool palette painting while being introduced to the limited earth painting by demo.

FA 209 Painting 1 Week 5

Tues and Thurs students began work on the warm/cool painting project using Ivory Black, Transparent Red Oxide and Titanium White to create a two panel still life showing warm and cool tints

FA 106 Color Theory Week 1-2

After reviewing the syllabus on day 1, students began Tuesday by painting warm and cool hue families followed by color space exploration of harmony and compliment. Thursday students worked on creating and designing a color triad. Next week will focus on color matching.

FA 218 Painting 2 Week 5

On Tuesday student began work on the warm cool still life exercise. Demonstrations for both the first (warm) still life and the w/c Portrait were made. Thursday the warm cool portrait was completed and the Caravaggio style piece was taken to stage 2 grisaille. Student will have critique #1 on Thursday March 6th.
