FA 218 Painting 2 Week 8

Tuesday students had their last lab to work on finishing pieces for the mid term critique on Thursday. Demonstration for the Glaze, Scumble and Velatura project was given.

FA 209 Painting 1 Week 15

This week students worked to near completion of the final project (18"*24") students should have the following projects for our final critique next week. Color box, Glaze Scumble Velatura, Palette Project (2 paintings, one being shellac) and their final (open subject, palette and style)

FA 218 Painting 2 Week 7

Student have 1 week to complete projects 1&2 for critique next Thursday March 12. Demonstrations for the Glazing/Scumbling/Velatura project and the Zorn Palette historical portrait were given.

FA 209 Painting 1 Week 9

Tuesday and Thursday students worked to complete the Limited Earth Palette project for midterm critique on Tuesday October 28th. At critique students should have the first 5 paintings from the semester (Grisaille, Wipeout, Wet in wet, Warm/Cool, Lim Earth) other considerations for midterms are homework and effort/attendance.
Demos for Glazing, Scumbling, Velatura were given on paintings from the first 5 pieces.

FA 218 Painting 2 Week 7

Tuesday was the final lab for students to finish works for the midterm critique. Demonstrations for glazing, scumbling, and velatura were made as well as limited earth palette still life. Thursday students discussed and analyzed each other's work during critique. Students should make sure to share any updates to their work made before mid term.

FA 218 Painting 2 Week 6

With one week to the first class critique students should be finishing their first group of projects. Demonstrations this week focused on the painting techniques of Rembrandt and Caravaggio. Paint 1 projects should be moving to limited earth palette and glaze, scumble and velatura next week.

FA 209 Painting 1 Week 4

Week 4 recap- on Tuesday students finished work on the Wipe out imprimatura while a Wet in wet demonstration was given. Thursday students made wet in wet paintings. Homework #2 - draw 4 new composition thumbnails using Landscape, Circular, Portrait and Irregular formats. Plus reading in the texts
