FA 218 Painting 2 Week 7

On Tuesday paint 1 students were introduced to the Limited Earth palette painting project. Using only Ivory Black, Alizarin Crimson, Raw Sienna and Titanium White to mix a secondary mix of Plum, Russett and Citrine. Thursday the demonstration for the Rembrandt style painting continued.

FA 209 Painting 1 Week 8

Students worked on finishing the limited earth painting for mid-term critique next Tuesday.

FA 209 Painting 1 Week 7

This week students finished work on the warm cool painting and began the limited earth palette. Using only ivory black, raw sienna, alizarin Crimson and titanium white. Mixtures between black, sienna and crimson will produce secondary colors citrine, russet and plum.

FA 209 Painting 1 Week 9

Tuesday and Thursday students worked to complete the Limited Earth Palette project for midterm critique on Tuesday October 28th. At critique students should have the first 5 paintings from the semester (Grisaille, Wipeout, Wet in wet, Warm/Cool, Lim Earth) other considerations for midterms are homework and effort/attendance.
Demos for Glazing, Scumbling, Velatura were given on paintings from the first 5 pieces.

FA 209 Painting 1 Week 8

This week students finished working in the Warm/Cool palette painting while being introduced to the limited earth painting by demo.

FA 209 Painting 1 Week 7

Tuesday student continued working on the warm cool project as the Limited Earth Palette project was introduced. At the end of class student went to the "Simply Steve" lecture and opening @ the Juergensen Gallery.

FA 218 Painting 2 Week 7

Tuesday was the final lab for students to finish works for the midterm critique. Demonstrations for glazing, scumbling, and velatura were made as well as limited earth palette still life. Thursday students discussed and analyzed each other's work during critique. Students should make sure to share any updates to their work made before mid term.

FA 209 Painting 1 week 7

Week 7 recap - this week students worked on the limited earth palette painting. Using only the four paints (blk, wht, al crim, raw snna) students will create a still life painting that shows a range of value and color.

FA 209 Painting 1 Week 6

Week 6 recap - this week students participated in a drawing workshop with visiting artist James D'Andrea on Tuesday, while finishing up their warm/cool painting projects on Thursday. A Limited Earth color palette demonstration was given on Thursday as well.
