FA 106 Color Theory AM Week 6

On Tuesday we held a quick critique of the Color Match projects before making the designs for the Face Blot project. This project focuses on the concept of Color Field Theory. This principle of color says that a color will be influenced by the colors that surround it and they can have a strong affect on each other in some cases. Once students finished 4 designs for each the Blots and Faces the best 2 of each where then transferred on a layout for the color exercise portion of this project. Each box exercise should be on a 8"x5" or 9"x6". Exercises A and D will have two different color background colors.

FA 106 Color Theory PM Week 6

This week students finished their Color match projects and started work on the designs for the Color Face Blot project. The double face designs are made by cutting a frame, eyes, nose and mouth out of a half sheet of copy paper. The paint blots are made by drawing in a small amount of paint from your tube on half sheet of copy paper then pressing the two sides together. Students will make 4 face designs and 4 paint blots minimum. Next week we will examine the exercise portion of the project.

Students should create four of each minimum before selecting the best or favorite two from each group to use as designs. Thursday students began making color tests for examples A-D, to explore which color relationships work best for each example. Some students also began painting their final designs for the examples. The best order of execution is (A, D, C, B)

FA 106 Color Theory Week 4

Tuesday student had a demonstration for examples c and d of the Face/Blot project. C focuses on color vibration and D highlights high and low intensity with a complimentary color. Thursday student had an example b demo that make 2 different foreground colors look like the same color by controling the background colors.
c- Color Vibration, d - block in

d- High/Low intensity + compliment

b - two different colors look like the same color
