FA 106 Color Theory Week 12

Week 12 Recap - On Tuesday students submitted their Faces of the Mohawk Valley pixel portraits for grading. Thursday students should be nearing completion of the Color Ribbon project. The tonal Robot/Critter project will be due for critique on Tues Nov 26. Demonstration for the Manticorpse part 3 (tonal environment) was brought to near completion.

FA 106 Color Theory Week 10

Week 10 recap- This week students were asked to finish up the pixel Faces portrait and begin the layout and painting of the color ribbon project. Students should look for a critique of the ribbon project on Tues Nov 12th.

Week 7 Recap - this week students began painting their Faces of the mohawk valley pixel portraits. Students should use a variety of colors to show the correct values that the images present.

Week 6 recap - this week students finished the ink blot/ double face color field theory project and began working on the Faces of the Mohawk Valley Pixel Portrait.

FA 106 Color Theory Week 7

Week7 recap- this week students finished the pixel project with a demonstration for Faces of Mohawk Valley / Rainbow Young. The color ribbon project was introduced for next week.

FA 106 Color Theory Week 6

Week 6 Recap- Tues we printed, gridded and transferred the pixel images for our value project. Thursday students began painting their projects, specifically focusing on using all colors in different values to abstract the original picture. Demo included finishing the baby portraits and will start a large piece next week.

Veteran - Faces Demo

Week 14 Recap- This week students created their final Faces drawing for this semester. Our final theme was veteran recognition. Steve Mazza our regular model served in the Army corps in the late 60's.

Week 13 Recap - After a short baby hiatus we were back to finish up working on the final projects of the semester. Demonstrations will include: Daniel Adel artist style copy, Baby + toys growth drawing/painting and a final piece most likely to be Frankenstein's monster theme. On Monday we will conclude the Faces of the Mohawk Valley project.

Week 9 Recap - This week student finished up their Faces of the Mohawk Valley Pixel portrait, while starting to design the Color Ribbon.  Demonstrations showed process for designing and painting color strips on the ribbon.  Students should have their ribbon drawn out by the end of class on Tues.

Week 8 Recap - Students continued working on the Faces of the Mohawk Valley Pixel Portrait project.  By classes end students were asked to have 3 hues with a six value range.  The Color Ribbon project was introduced as the next project.

Week 7 Recap - Students worked on the Faces of the Mohawk Valley Pixel Portrait Project.  For Mid-term grading students should have a full value range in three different hues.

Face Fall 12' - Stage 3 Demo

Week 6 Recap - This week students began the Faces of the Mohawk Valley Pixel Portrait Project.  In collaboration with other courses in the Arts and Humanities Center students will create portraits of fellow MVCC cohorts while telling the models cultural background and celebrating diversity. Week 6 Recap - On Monday students continued preparing final drawings for Mid-term critique Oct 10th.  During this time a demonstration video by Bob Kato was shown on Adult Male Portrait in color Gouache. Wednesday students began the Faces of the Mohawk Valley (Artist Portion) by drawing and interviewing fellow student Samantha Smith.  The next Face drawing day will be in mid October.

FA 202 Intermediate Drawing Week 5

Week 5 Recap - This week student began focusing on both finished drawings for Mid-term (3) and scheduling for Faces of the Mohawk Valley project.  Demonstration for this week was a Charcoal Wipe out drawing of my Raccoon skull object.  Next week students will work on Faces project on Wednesday.

Week 4 Recap - Monday students worked on constructing finished drawing for midterm critique.  Students are tasked with creating 3 finished drawings (2 of their selected object) for a critique discussion.  Also the Growth Drawing project was introduced.  Students in this exercise will create a drawing that spans at least 3 separate sheets of paper and measure a minimum of 4 ft in any one direction.  Wednesday students began work on the Faces of the Mohawk Valley Project.  In collaboration with other art disciplines and courses students have been tasked with creating a series of works that showcase the diverse backgrounds of the Mohawk Valley culture.
