FA 101 General Drawing Week 11

Tuesday students attended the Richard Russo lecture and were given the assignment of creating a drawing based on what they heard. The homework demonstration comes from the story of the author running into an old girlfriend and she saying that she had no idea he was so "full of books". Thursday students were asked to practice the subtractive charcoal drawing method, wherein they lay down a ground of charcoal before wiping out the light areas with an eraser. Then using both charcoal and eraser continue to refine the drawing by adding or subtracting value. 

FA 104 Figure Drawing 2 Week 11

Anatomy lectures covered the arms (tues) and the hands + feet (thurs). Students should keep the lecture notes in their sketchbook for grading - this includes all 5min quick poses drawings we do as well. Homework for copying 3 of Leonardo's arms will be due thurs nov 13 and the 2 hand 2 feet drawing is due tues dec 2 after thanksgiving break.

FA 209 Painting 1 Week 11

Tues and thurs students finished working on the color box project. Also on Thursday students were introduced to the Palette project. Demonstrations will highlight possible solutions to style and palette choices for the project in the coming week.

FA 106 Color Theory Week 11

Both class sessions this week students worked on the Face pixel portrait project. Students will review progress in a group critique this coming thurs nov 13 and turn in the final image on tues nov 18.

FA 101 General Drawing Week 10

Tuesday students made a line quality drawing with no shading next to a tonal drawing with little to no line. Both drawings were of the same object and focused on making the best drawing possible. Thursday students made a spooky charcoal still life drawing. REMINDER--- the Richard Russo lecture will be Tuesday and we will meet at class AB 112 @ 630pm for the assignment before going to the lecture at 7. This is a big assignment and is Mandatory, plus a DGV do bring your student ID.

FA 104 Figure Drawing 2 Week 10

Tuesday students continued the anatomy lectures with the legs. While Thursday students made long pose drawings of the legs. Next week will feature the arms.
