FA 106 Color Theory Week 14

Observation Still Life Demo - Beer
Week 14 Recap - This week students began their final project. Three stages are: A. Observation Still Life, B. Artist Analysis, C. Interpretation. Students should have parts A and B finished by the end of next week.

FA 202 Intermediate Drawing Week 14

Veteran - Faces Demo
Week 14 Recap- This week students created their final Faces drawing for this semester. Our final theme was veteran recognition. Steve Mazza our regular model served in the Army corps in the late 60's.

FA 103 Figure Drawing 1 Week 14

Scaling Drawing Demo
Week 14 Recap - This Mon students created a dual pose drawing using a scaling strategy. Student will make a second drawing in this style next week.

FA 209 Painting 1 Week 13

Week 13 Recap - Student should be finishing up their palette project pieces and starting on the Portrait and Final projects. Demonstrations included an abstract landscape and an Incamminati style portrait.

FA 202 Intermediate Drawing Week 13

Week 13 Recap - After a short baby hiatus we were back to finish up working on the final projects of the semester. Demonstrations will include: Daniel Adel artist style copy, Baby + toys growth drawing/painting and a final piece most likely to be Frankenstein's monster theme. On Monday we will conclude the Faces of the Mohawk Valley project.

FA 209 Painting 1 Week 10

Week 10 Recap - This week student worked on finishing painting 1 of the palette project.  Students should look to plan out the other two as time in the semester is short.  Students were also invited to begin their final project which has only the requirement that it is 18"x24" or larger.  Students will choose the subject, style and palette.

Week 10 Recap - This week students began working on their Color Ribbon project.  Students should have started painting their piece with the project being due next Thurs.

FA 202 Intermediate Drawing Week 10

Week 10 Recap - This week students continued working on both the growth drawing and chose their group artist research project. With five weeks left students should also consider starting their final drawing.

FA 104 Figure Drawing 2 Week 9

Long Pose Torso Demo - Venus de Medici
Week 9 Recap - This week we began the anatomy section of the course by refreshing the structure of the torso.  Students are asked each week to bring their sketchbooks for note taking about the muscle groups and drawing strategies.  On Thursday student made a long pose drawing of the torso.  Next weeks focus will be the legs.

Palette Project #1 - Shellac, Glaze, Vanitas
Week 9 Recap - This week students finished up their Color Box paintings while being introduced to the Palette Project.  Students are tasked with creating 3 paintings using the Style, Palette, Subject Matrix.  One choice from each column are required as follows (Style - Shellac, Palette - Mud, Subject - Vanitas). Demonstration #2 will be a Wet in Wet, Mud Palette, Portrait.

Week 9 Recap - This week student finished up their Faces of the Mohawk Valley Pixel portrait, while starting to design the Color Ribbon.  Demonstrations showed process for designing and painting color strips on the ribbon.  Students should have their ribbon drawn out by the end of class on Tues.

FA 202 Intermediate Drawing Week 9

Toy Growth Drawing Demo - Owls
Week 9 Recap - Students were treated to a few PowerPoint presentations on Artist Style copies and Term B Final Drawings (Growth, Artist Research, Final).  The Growth drawing demonstration moved into the toy concept phase. Further Daniel Adel was chosen as the Artist Research subject for demonstration. Due to the lack of available material, I was able to email the artist directly and will hopefully receive process information.

FA 209 Painting 1 Week 7

Week 7 Recap - This week students began painting #6 Color Box.  Students were asked to now use a full compliment of primary and secondary colors to highlight the color influence created by placing objects in a color box still life.

Week 7 Recap - Students worked on the Faces of the Mohawk Valley Pixel Portrait Project.  For Mid-term grading students should have a full value range in three different hues.

FA 202 Intermediate Drawing Week 7

Week 7 Recap - Students were asked to show progress towards Mid-term assignments of drawing and sketchbook work.  Next week critique will be Wednesday.  Demonstration included the start of the Growth Drawing assignment.

Week 6 Recap - This week students focused on dynamic gesture poses on Tuesday and adding a landscape background to their figure in space drawing on Thursday.  Students will begin their Mid-term Figure in Space drawing on Tues Oct 2.

FA 209 Painting 1 Week 6

Limited Earth Palette finished Demo
Week 6 Recap - This week students worked on project 5 Limited Earth Palette.  Students using only the 4 colors (IB, RS, AC, TW) created a still life painting of simple subjects.  Next week students will begin project 6 Color Box.
