Figure Drawing 2 Week 5

Week 5 Recap - Tuesday we had Anatomy lecture #2 on the Upper Leg. Thursday's class was canceled due to inclement weather. Lecture #3 for the Lower leg anatomy will be on Thursday March 4th. No class will be held Tuesday March 2nd.

Painting 2 Week 5

Week 5 Recap - Tuesday and Thursday were studio labs for this final week before critique #1. Thursday March 4th we will hold critique for projects 1 and 2. Project 3 should be started, with an expected crit for March 25th. My demonstration here is for the Motion of the Arm.

Color Theory TR Week 5

Week 5 Recap - Tuesday we finished up the Color Ink Blot projects and some students began saving their project files on the student drive S\: . Thursday students moved into the AB 135 computer lab to make transitions to Example A and B of the Color Ink Blot. Project 4 the Egg/Portrait project was introduced.

Color Theory MW Week 5

Week 5 Recap - Monday we continued working on the Color Ink Blot project. Wednesday we started using the computer lab to both save the Color Ink Blot project and start the Egg/Portrait Project. The photo should be high contrast and simple portrait.

2D Design Week 5

Week 5 Recap - Monday we held a continued lab to work on the Atmospheric Space project. Wednesday we had critique for the project. Also we introduced project 5 Big/Small. Students were asked to make to pictures one which makes something big look small and the other makes something small look big, controlled by the context of the said objects.

Figure Drawing 2 Week 4

Week 4 Recap - Tuesday we had Anatomy lecture #1 the Torso. Short pose drawings gave way to longer pose studies. Thursday we made a long whole class pose of the Torso.

Painting 2 Week 4

Again we worked on projects 1 and 2. Please begin planning project 3 due for critique end of March.

Color Theory TR Week 4

Week 4 Recap - Tuesday we were set for the critique of project 2, but that was postponed till Thursdays class at the beginning. Project 3 color ink blots (relativity) was introduced and further developed on Tuesday and Thursday respectively. Next week project 3 will be digitized and used for a computer lab introduction to Photoshop.

Color Theory MW Week 4

Week 4 Recap - Monday we continued to work on the Color Interaction strips while introducing Project 3 Color Ink Blot. Wednesday we had the critique for Project 2 and continued the demonstration for project 3.

2D Design Week 4

Week 4 Recap - Monday we covered the Elements of Composition lecture. This had 4 exercises, with one being expanded for a 5th drawing. Wednesday was the Principles of Composition. Only two exercises on this day. The lecture for BFP is set for early Monday morning. The space project critique will be on Wednesday Feb 24th.

Figure Drawing 2 Week 3

Week 3 Recap - Tuesday we continued our Figure in Space exercises, while on Thursday we talked about materials and the light logic of high contrast shading. Tues Feb 16th we will begin the lectures on anatomy, starting with the torso.

Painting 2 Week 3

Week 3 Recap - Tuesday and Thursday we continued working on our projects 1 & 2. Thursday your artist topic and painting were due. I also introduced project #3 Corpus Humanus.

Color Theory TR Week 3

Week 3 Recap - Tuesday we held our first critique Project 1 Color Match. I introduced Project 2 Color Interaction. Thursday students had lab time to work on project 2 which will be due for critique on Tues Feb 16th.

Color Theory MW Week 3

Week 3 Recap - Monday project 2 color interaction was introduced, and I began a demonstration for each class. Wednesday we held the critique for project 1 Color Matching. Project 2 will be due for critique on Wed Feb 17th.

2D Design Week 3

Week 3 Recap - Monday we continued working on project #2 Color Wheel. Wednesday we held our second critique for the color wheel project. Project #3 Atmospheric Space was also introduced. Monday Feb 15th is our first of two lecture days about composition. Students should be on time for the discussions and exercises worth 50pts each day.

Ireland/England Study Abroad Week 2

We had our initial syllabus meeting on Wed the 3rd. Our next meeting will be March 31st for a studio lab. Please look for the reading groups shortly.

Figure Drawing 2 Week 2

Week 2 Recap - Tues we had our final foreshortening drawing. Thurs we began Figure in Space. This exercise will continue Tues Feb 9th. Homework copies from pages 16 and 26 were due Thurs.

Painting 2 Week 2

Week 2 Recap - Both Tues and Thurs were open lab times for projects 1 and 2. Demos included incamminati palette self portrait and a second state to demo 1 horse and coffee can. Project 1/2 Critique looks to be set for Tuesday March 2nd. Artist painting topic is due Thursday Feb 11th.

Color Theory TR Week 2

Week 2 Recap - Tuesday and Thursday we continued to match paint swatches. Design was emphasized, my demonstration used shape from countries and areas of the earth. Tuesday Feb 9th will be the critique day for this project.

Color Theory MW Week 2

Week 2 Recap - Both Monday and Wednesday we worked on color matching, and some design strategies were discussed. This project will be due for critique on Wednesday Feb 11th.

2D Design Week 2

Week 2 Recap - Monday we continued work on the Value Intensity project. Wednesday we critique that project and introduced Project #2 Color Wheel. Students should design a non traditional solution with 12 minimum shapes to hold the primary, secondary and tertiary colors of the color wheel. This project will most likely be critiqued at the end of Wednesday Feb 11th class.
