FA 103 Figure Drawing 1 Week 6

This week students focused on the anatomy and drawing of the torso. Students practiced drawing with a variety of papers to prepare for next weeks mid term torso drawing. We also watched a video demonstration by Juliette Aristides to see some different approaches.

FA 218 Painting 2 Week 6

With one week to the first class critique students should be finishing their first group of projects. Demonstrations this week focused on the painting techniques of Rembrandt and Caravaggio. Paint 1 projects should be moving to limited earth palette and glaze, scumble and velatura next week.














FA 106 Color Theory Week 6

On Tuesday students began painting the Faces of the Mohawk Valley pixel portrait in force. Working with 1 color at a time students should look to mix 5-6 values of each before moving to the next color. Demonstrations began last week and continued into Thursdays class. Students should have projects ready for critique on next Thursday March 6th.

FA 105 2D Design Week 6

On Monday students worked to complete the 20 thumbnail designs for the noun form project. Wednesday was canceled so now students should have the 5 roughs ready for critique on Monday.

FA 103 Figure Drawing 1 Week 5

Tuesday and Thursday students began working with charcoal as a means if creating deep rich tonal values in their drawings. Loose block-ins and wipe out techniques were explored before implementing a linear approach to regain structure to the figure gestures. Next week students will begin focus on the torso and contraposto poses.

FA 218 Painting 2 Week 5

On Tuesday student began work on the warm cool still life exercise. Demonstrations for both the first (warm) still life and the w/c Portrait were made. Thursday the warm cool portrait was completed and the Caravaggio style piece was taken to stage 2 grisaille. Student will have critique #1 on Thursday March 6th.
