FA 101 General Drawing Week 9

Tuesday students worked on the Low Key (values 5-9) drawing while Thursday students finished the Value Stations project with the Full Value (1-9) drawing. Midterm grade progress was given and homework 3 (object x3, clouds, and Russo ticket) was due Thursday. Next week charcoal drawings will begin. 

FA 104 Figure Drawing 2 Week 9

This week focused on beginning the anatomy lectures with the torso. Students made a whole class drawing of the torso on Tuesday while taking notes on the lecture and doing short pose drawings on Thursday. Midterm grades were handed out and general assessments were made on aspects of students drawing progress in class this semester. Next week anatomy will continue with the Leg. 

FA 209 Painting 1 Week 9

Tuesday and Thursday students worked to complete the Limited Earth Palette project for midterm critique on Tuesday October 28th. At critique students should have the first 5 paintings from the semester (Grisaille, Wipeout, Wet in wet, Warm/Cool, Lim Earth) other considerations for midterms are homework and effort/attendance.

Demos for Glazing, Scumbling, Velatura were given on paintings from the first 5 pieces.

FA 106 Color Theory Week 9

Tues and Thurs students worked towards completing the color ribbon project, while beginning to lay out the pixel portrait project. Mid-term grades were also provided for students to assess where their grade stands and strategize what needs to be done to achieve the desired grade in the course. 

FA 101 General Drawing Week 8

This week students began the Value stations project. Each class students will draw a small 7"x10" still life in graphite. Each drawing will have a set key of values (high, mid, low, full). Students are graded on proposition, structure/volume, tone and craft.

FA 104 Figure Drawing 2 Week 8

Tues students began the Figure in Space mid-term assignment. With no model that day students used casts to begin the assignment while finishing the poses on Thursday with Steve.

FA 209 Painting 1 Week 8

This week students finished working in the Warm/Cool palette painting while being introduced to the limited earth painting by demo. 

FA 106 Color Theory Week 8

Tuesday students continued working on the color ribbon project as a demonstration on of layout and first steps on the pixel project was given. Thursday students had the opportunity to work on either project as demonstrations continued.

FA 101 General Drawing Homework 3

Students will get tickets for the Richard Russo event Nov 4 by next Tuesday and show ticket to instructor.

FA 101 General Drawing Week 7

Tuesday students worked in groups to create "good" still life set ups which then became compositional drawings in portrait, landscape, and square formats. Grading on 2pp was mostly returned.

FA 104 Figure Drawing 2 Week 7

Tuesday students were able to practice some figure in space drawing before and after the Ryerson photo model illustration workshop. Students saw a first hand view of lighting and strategies for using a photo shoot with a model.

FA 209 Painting 1 Week 7

Tuesday student continued working on the warm cool project as the Limited Earth Palette project was introduced. At the end of class student went to the "Simply Steve" lecture and opening @ the Juergensen Gallery.

FA 106 Color Theory Week 7

On Tuesday students were introduced to both the color ribbon project and the Faces of the Mohawk Valley Pixel Portrait project. Thursday student payed out their designs as a short demonstration on painting the first two strips of color ribbon.

FA courses Week 6

This week found classes cancelled on Tuesday due to illness and a museum field trip on Thursday to the Norman Rockwell museum to see the "Unseen Hopper" show and then to the Clark institute. Homework assignments were given to FA 101 & FA 104 drawing courses ( general drawing and figure drawing 2 )
